Now Playing: The Simpsons has been hit with some annoying ads, but its creators have an explanation for why.
A new Simpsons ad, titled “Welcome to Springfield,” debuted Thursday during the network’s primetime special.
The ad features the character Bart Simpson’s son, Homer Simpson, as he plays in a room with an obnoxious commercial.
The commercial asks, “Will you believe the ad that has you on your knees?”
The commercial concludes with Bart in his underwear, with the caption, “You’re welcome, Simpsons.”
“Welcome to Homer’s house,” it continues.
“You might think it’s pretty funny, but there’s nothing funny about the commercial.
It’s so obvious that you can’t help but stare at it.”

The network has responded to these complaints by saying it will “remain vigilant” to make sure its ads aren’t offensive.
“The Simpsons is committed to the highest level of ad integrity, and the advertisers who choose to use our trademarks and other advertising assets on our networks do so at their own risk,” the network said in a statement.
“We continue to actively monitor our networks for any suspicious activity and will take appropriate action if there is any evidence of inappropriate behavior.”
